U.S. unemployment claims decrease

WASHINGTON — In the week ending Sept. 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims in the U.S. was 450,000, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week’s revised figure. The four-week moving average was 464,750, a decrease of 13,500 from the previous week’s revised average.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 3.5 percent for the week ending Sept. 4, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the prior week’s revised rate.

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending Sept. 4 was 4.485 million, a decrease of 84,000 from the preceding week’s revised level. The four-week moving average was 4.503 million, a decrease of 7,500 from the preceding week’s revised average.
