Judge swearing in 4 new TVA board members
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A federal judge is swearing in four new Tennessee Valley Authority board members nominated by President Barack Obama.
U.S. District Judge Sandy Mattice is swearing in the four new appointees to the nine-member board at a Thursday ceremony at the utility’s headquarters in Knoxville.
The new members are Georgia Tech professor Marilyn Brown, Middle Tennessee State University professor Barbara Haskew, Oak Ridge attorney Neil McBride and former TVA Chairman Bill Sansom.
The new board will meet Nov. 4 in Chattanooga.
TVA is the nation’s largest public utility and serves about 9 million people in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
