Campbell not running for reelection to House

MERIDIAN — State Rep. David “Tad” Campbell says he won’t seek re-election next year.

The Republican from Meridian has represented Clarke, Jasper, Lauderdale and Newton counties in the state Legislature since 2008.

Campbell said he is choosing not to seek a second term because of family concerns. He said he is making the announcement now so people who might be interested can prepare to run for the seat.

Campbell, who is an attorney, serves on numerous committees in the House, including agriculture, conservation and water resources, Medicaid and transportation.
