PASCAGOULA — A liquidation sale is set for tomorrow for the contents of Pascagoula’s La Font Inn, including thousands of items from a nondescript wineglass to the knight mosaic from the old La Font bar.
Developers of the 1960s landmark told The Mississippi Press that National Content Liquidators Inc. will sell items for the 192 hotel rooms, conference rooms and a commercial kitchen to make way for the motel’s demolition next year.
Hilton Garden Inn is scheduled to bring a 115- to 125-room hotel to the site, and developers are marketing surrounding property to other businesses such as restaurants.
Appraisers worked earlier in the week to price and tag items, arranged throughout the former restaurant and meeting rooms. Commercial kitchen equipment such as an espresso bar and a 30-quart mixer remained in place in the kitchen.
One-of-a-kind items such as a white and gold French-style bedroom suite and outdoor fountains sat near sample items such as standard room furniture and televisions. Linens such as tablecloths sat stacked on shelves in one of the conference rooms.
Prices ranged from about $1 for a glass to more than $2,000 for items such as a hanging stone light fixture in the lobby and the marble-topped, custom-carved front desk.
