Senate confirms Reeves for District Court

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has approved the confirmation of Carlton Reeves of Jackson to be a U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Mississippi.

The Reeves nomination was approved by on a voice vote yesterday afternoon. Se. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) supported Reeves’ nomination, introducing him to the Senate Judiciary Committee at a confirmation hearing in July.

Reeves is a co-founder and partner in the law firm of Pigott Reeves Johnson, P.A., in Jackson. He earned his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University and his law degree from the University of Virginia. He has served as a clerk and staff attorney for the Mississippi Supreme Court, and was the chief of the Civil Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi.
