TVA customers' electric bills to increase

NORTH MISSISSIPPI — Tennessee Valley Authority residential customers will pay up to $1.50 more a month in January to cover an increase in the utility’s fuel costs.

The utility said in a statement that demand is expected to increase, primarily due to colder weather.

Compared to December, the January fuel cost adjustment will increase residential monthly bills between 50 cents and $1.50, depending on usage levels.

The monthly increase is the ninth since March and represents an 18.3 percent climb in fuel costs since January.
