ATK employees set new safety record

IUKA — Alliant Techsystems’ employees at the Iuka facility reached a record setting one million hours worked without a lost-time accident. This safety milestone began in March 2008 and was achieved on Dec. 1, 2010.

“I am proud of this team and recognize their hard work and dedication to safety,” said John Kain, Operations – Large Structures Center of Excellence. “This achievement signifies the personal commitment each of our employees has made to take safety seriously.”

The factory produces large composite structures for space launch vehicles such as Delta II, Delta IV and Atlas V as well as a number of NASA programs. ATK currently employs 165 people in Iuka including production and machine operators, as well as a salaried professional staff of engineers, program managers and executives.
