BILOXI — The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) will hold a public hearing concerning a project proposed by the City of Biloxi to repair and improve the Kuhn Street boat launch.
The public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Bolton State Office Building in Biloxi.
The City of Biloxi is proposing to construct two finger piers, each 100 feet in length and 6 feet in width, a boat ramp 90 feet in length and 40 feet in width, inside the footprint of the pre-Katrina ramp, associated dredging, expansion of the existing parking area to a total of 36,000 square feet and debris removal.
A variance to Chapter 8, Section 2, Part III.O.1 of the Mississippi Coastal Program, which states “permanent filling of coastal wetlands because of potential adverse and cumulative environmental impacts is discouraged,” will be required. The project is located along Beach Boulevard at the Kuhn Street/U.S. 90 intersection.
The public hearing will not be a question-and-answer session, but will be a medium for concerned parties to make comments about the proposed project for the public record.
