PEARL — A Rankin County judge has approved an annexation by the City of Pearl of about 1.8 square miles at its southern limits.
Chancellor John Grant approved the annexation yesterday.
Pearl Mayor Brad Rogers tells [ITAL]The Clarion-Ledger[ITAL] that the city fire department already was serving the residential areas in two of the annexed portions.
Rogers says the other parcel was the site for an energy substation.
The annexation would add roughly 1,200 residents to Pearl’s population.
Opponents have 10 days to file an appeal.
