Olin looking to expand Winchester plant
OXFORD — Lafayette County supervisors have approved Olin Corp.’s site plans for expansion of its Winchester ammunition facility in Oxford.
The Oxford Eagle reports supervisors’ approval came Jan. 4. A county planning board approved the project in December.
In November, Olin announced plans to move its Centerfire ammunition operations from East Alton, Ill., to Oxford and build a 500,000-square foot facility next to its existing Winchester plant in the Lafayette County Industrial Park.
The City of Oxford has agreed to provide the facility with water and sewer.
The project will bring 1,000 ammunition manufacturing jobs to Oxford over the next five years. Work at the site is expected to begin in later January.
