VICKSBURG — The Chief of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Lieutenant General (LTG) Robert Van Antwerp, recently recognized the Mississippi Valley Division and the Vicksburg District for their significant contributions to the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program (SDVOSB).
The SDVOSB is a Department of Defense program to assist small businesses that are owned by disabled veterans with contracts on Corps projects. Contract obligations for MVD increased from $44,288,451 in fiscal year 2009 to $175,646,714 in fiscal year 2010.
The Vicksburg District accomplished more than $9.9 million, or 6.2 percent, in total obligations to SDVOSB and was one of the largest contributors in the MVD.
