County supervisor gets post-conviction bond

HATTIESBURG — A federal judge April 8 allowed Greene County Supervisor Earnest Holder to remain free on $20,000 bond until his June 23 sentencing on a bribery conviction.

The Hattiesburg American reports U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael T. Parker ruled Holder was not a flight risk or a danger to anyone else.

The 69-year-old Holder was convicted April 7 of one count of bribery, one count of conspiracy to commit bribery and one count of perjury before a grand jury. The three charges carry a maximum combined sentence of 20 years.

Holder also will be sentenced June 23 for a tax evasion charge he was convicted of in a previous trial in August. He faces up to an additional three years in prison on the tax charge.
