Isle of Capri-Natchez closing due to rising river

NATCHEZ — Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Natchez announced that as of 2:30 a.m. central time May 8, the casino would be closed temporarily until floodwaters recede.

“As the Mississippi River continues to rise access to our property is expected to be compromised and the casino will close to ensure the safety of our guests,” said Tony Scudiero, Isle of Capri Casinos’ vice president and general manager. “Our hotel actually sits on the bluff and will remain open.”

Tunica has already stagger-closed its casinos due to the flooding Mississippi River, which is expected to reach an historic crest in mid-May. There have been no announcements yet from the other river gaming markets, Vicksburg and Greenville.
