200 Renaissance gets LEED Gold Certification

Going green turned to gold this week for 200 Renaissance at Colony Park, with the Ridgeland office building receiving a LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Colony Park’s Jackson-based developer HC Bailey says the 200 Renaissance is the largest private office building in Mississippi to achieve LEED Gold certification. The award, HC Bailey said, recognized such sustainable features as offices and meeting spaces with natural lighting, enhanced indoor air quality with fresh air infusions, water conservation systems, low flow fixtures, chemical-free janitorial services and low impact landscaping design.

In addition, bike racks, showers and changing areas are provided for those who want to leave the car at home, the developer said.

200 Renaissance reduces indoor water use by more than 33 percent and outdoor water use by nearly 70 percent. To reduce indoor water use, the project team researched more than 50 water use fixtures and ran project simulations to determine the optimal fixture selection, HC Bailey said.

The 324,749 square-foot office building opened in October 2009. Surveys in recent quarters have put the building’s vacancy rate at nearly 30 percent.
