Minor, ex-judges ordered back to prison

JACKSON — Former Mississippi attorney Paul Minor and two ex-judges have been ordered returned to prison by a federal judge overseeing their corruption case.

U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate denied requests from Minor and former Harrison County judges Wes Teel and John Whitfield to be re-sentenced to time they have already served in the case.

They had to be resentenced because a federal appeals court vacated their bribery convictions in 2009. The appeals court upheld other corruption convictions.

Wingate sentenced Minor to eight years. Teel got four years and Whitfield was sentenced to about six years. All the sentences were reductions from their previous sentences.
