Local banker eyes property for mixed-use development

GREENVILLE — According to commercial real estate broker Mal Kretschmar, an historic downtown Greenville building has been sold and might be converted into a mixed-use development.

The building at 915 Washington Avenue was built in 1870, and saw renovations and expansions in 1900 and 1965. Over the course of its history, the building has served many purposes, but is best known as the headquarters of the city’s chamber of commerce.

Kretschmar reports the property was originally marketed as a potential new bed and breakfast. However, that deal did not materialize.

Now, local banker Greg Hatley has purchased the 2,650-square-foot facility and plans to redevelop it into a mixed-use development.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Among its amenities include a window porch overlooking gardens, large conference room and elevator. On the same grounds there is a separate building and parking lot.
