Supervisors to apply for loan for new hospital

PHILADELPHIA — Neshoba County supervisors have agreed to apply for a $4-million loan to help finance the construction of a new hospital.

Officials tell The Neshoba Democrat that the hospital will pledge revenue and assets to ensure the repayment of the loan.

Construction is expected to begin by Thanksgiving on the $19-million hospital project, which will be completed in two phases. The first phase is a new hospital just south of the current structure in the vicinity of the heliport. Phase 2 calls for the renovation of the current 50-year-old hospital, which would house obstetrics and gynecology offices, labor and delivery rooms and a nursery.

The hospital is using $14.7 million in cash reserves to pay for the work.

Each phase will take about one year to complete.
