Supervisors vote down Coast marina project

ST. MARTIN — The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has rejected plans for a new marina in St. Martin.

Board president Melton Harris said the developer wanted to build a 21-slip marina and a restaurant on St. Martin Bayou. A supporter of the plan estimated that it would have been a $12-million investment.

Harris said the board rejected the proposal this week because citizens complained about the project, and board members agreed it wasn’t in harmony with a residential area.
