Choctaws' business unit could close in November

PHILADELPHIA — Applied Geo Technologies on the Choctaw Indian Reservation could close in November.

The Tribal-owned provider of aerospace and defense services employs 110.

Tribal Chief-Elect Phyliss Anderson tells The Neshoba Democrat she was aware of the 60-day notification but had no part in the decision that was made by the board of directors of the Choctaw Holding Group. She becomes tribal chief on Oct. 4.

The plant employs 30 people in Philadelphia and 80 in Carthage

On Sept. 19 the company gave employees a 60-day notice of potential closure.

Johnnie Griffin, manager of the Philadelphia WIN Job Center, says they rushed to get a rapid response team together last week, but plant officials canceled the response.

AGT is provides products and services to aerospace, defense and commercial companies.
