Hearing set for alleged fraud at cancer clinic

SUMMIT — A hearing is scheduled today for the third woman facing charges related to a cancer clinic that allegedly used old needles and gave patients less chemotherapy than they were led to believe.

Some of the charges in the 15-count indictment allege bodily harm and patients are being tested for diseases. Authorities say Rose Cancer Center in Summit made millions billing Medicaid and Medicare for more drugs than were given to patients.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Brittany McCoskey of Monticello was office manager. She’s scheduled for arraignment today.

The clinic’s founder, Dr. Meera Sachdeva, is being held without bond. Monica Weeks of Madison, who allegedly did billing, pleaded not guilty and was released on a property bond.
