Coast businessman sentenced for embezzling from customers

OCEAN SPRINGS — A Coast businessman has been sentenced for embezzlement and must pay full restitution to his victims, according to Attorney General Jim Hood.
Rusty Lee Keenum, 37, of Ocean Springs, appeared before Judge John C. Gargiulo and pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzlement.
The judge sentenced Keenum to six years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with six years suspended and five years of reporting probation to run concurrent.
Keenum was ordered to pay full restitution to his victims in the amount of $95,714.
Keenum was arrested following indictment as a result of consumers filing formal complaints with the Attorney General Office’s Consumer Protection Division against Keenum and his business, TK Motors. The business was located at 1815 Pass Road in Biloxi and closed in 2010.
In the majority of the complaints, Keenum received payments for vehicles, however, none of the customers received a vehicle, nor did they receive a refund after having requested one.
