Supervisors approve tax break for DuPont plant

DELISLE — Harrison County Supervisors have agreed to give DuPont a $250,000 annual property tax exemption if the company invests $45 million into its operations near DeLisle.

The Sun Herald reports the tax waiver would be good for five years and it would mean a tax savings of about $250,000 annually if the company makes the $45-million investment in new equipment, buildings and renovations. The company would have the option to ask for a five-year extension.

DuPont does not expect the work to bring any additional jobs, which concerned supervisors, but the memorandum of understanding the Board entered into Monday said the tax break could save existing jobs.
