NEW ALBANY — Supporters of the so-called personhood movement, which defines life as beginning at fertilization, have formed a political action committee (PAC) to help elect anti-abortion candidates and to educate voters.
The Mississippi personhood amendment was defeated by voters Nov. 8.
Les Riley and the board of Personhood Mississippi announced Wednesday that they have created the Personhood Mississippi Political Committee and registered with the secretary of state’s office.
Riley says he and others will be organizing town hall meetings around the state to listen to concerns of voters about the amendment.
Riley says the group has not ruled out another petition drive to the issue back on the ballot.
