County supervisors wrestling with $1.4M deficit

MADISON COUNTY — Madison County supervisors are facing a projected $1.4 million deficit.
The Clarion-Ledger reports the potential shortfall is not tied to the county’s general operating fund.
President John Bell Crosby says the deficit is directly related to road projects in one form or another.
The amount of the deficit is tied to what is remaining on the contracts for design fees and construction of Calhoun Station Parkway and Moss Road.
Wallace Collins, the county’s CPA, said the county has reserve funds that can cover the final amount of a shortfall.
Department heads have been asked to examine their finances and bring suggestions on ways to save money to the board’s next meeting Jan. 17.
