SOUTHAVEN — The Southaven Board of Aldermen unanimously voted to take action on the state auditor’s request that they review Mayor Greg Davis’ city-issued credit card.
But only the dozen or so people in a two-hour closed-door meeting know exactly what that action was because city officials refused to release any information on the matter.
The Commercial Appeal reports the seven-member board referred all questions to the city attorney after they returned to open session during the special called meeting yesterday.
City Attorney Mark Sorrell said he couldn’t answer any questions because it is an ongoing investigation.
The state auditor late last year demanded, after a seven-month investigation into Davis’ expenses, that the mayor repay more than $170,000 in personal charges.
Davis, through supporters, has repaid $96,000. He still owes $63,000.
