BILOXI — The Biloxi City Council will consider rebuilding more infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Katrina and a resort on Deer Island this week.
During today’s meeting, The Sun Herald reports Larry Mitrenga will appeal the Planning Commission’s decision that he not be allowed to build a resort on Deer Island. Mitrenga is asking the council to allow a zoning change so he can build 96 condotel units, a pavilion and restaurant he plans to call The Oasis at Deer Island.
Across town in West Biloxi, equipment is staged for the next phase of Restore Biloxi.
The $3.7 million project funded by the federal and state emergency management agencies will replace water mains, sewer lines and storm drains that were damaged during the 2005 hurricane and rebuild curbs, sidewalks and streets.
