PASS CHRISTIAN — Two Pass Christian officials say that residents in a proposed annexation area in Harrison County would benefit from city services and discounts on insurance.
The Sun Herald reports the trial in which Pass Christian is attempting to annex 5.4 miles of the Pineville-Cuevas community in the county is expected to last two weeks. The city said it is growing and needs more land. Attorneys for the county argue that Pass Christian has lost population and doesn’t need room to grow.
Police Chief John Dubuisson said response time from his department is between two and four minutes and that an officer would be put in that area at all times.
Dubuisson said if the annexation is approved, he would hire three more officers.
