Saf-T-Cart, manufacturer of steel welding carts that transport and store oxygen and acetylene tanks, is expanding in Clarksdale to meet production demands.
The company of 55 workers will add 20 workers with the expansion.
The project represents a company investment of $240,000 as well as $300,000 in Mississippi Development Authority-sponsored Community Development Block Grant (CBG) funds for improvements to the county-owned facility the company occupies. Coahoma County provided $60,000 in matching funds.
This is Saf-T-Cart’s second expansion in five years, Saf-T-Cart President Jimmy Walker said. The company, he said, has “a very strong customer base located throughout North America.”
The privately-held Saf-T-Cart was established in 1986.
