SOUTHAVEN — Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has surrendered to authorities after he was charged with passing a school bus in a private vehicle that displayed blue police-type lights.
The Commercial Appeal reports the misdemeanor charge, stemming from an incident last week.
The embattled mayor was already the target of state auditors and the FBI investigating possible misuse of city funds.
Accompanied by attorney Steve Farese, Davis surrendered at the DeSoto County Jail on the charges yesterday afternoon. The mayor and Farese entered the jail complex without comment and left together about an hour later.
Davis said earlier yesterday that the charges were the result of passing the bus last Thursday as he was pursuing another vehicle that he saw pass the bus.
