SOUTHAVEN — Southaven aldermen have stripped Mark Sorrell of his role as the city’s legal adviser and said he would serve only as prosecutor in the future.
Sorrell has been serving in both capacities, but aldermen said the dual roles were too much.
The Commercial Appeal reports Sorrell came under fire from some aldermen earlier for publicly advising Mayor Greg Davis during a February board meeting not to answer questions about Davis’ use of city funds while state and federal investigations are in progress.
Aldermen last night made no mention of Sorrell’s role in matters concerning Davis.
Sorrell has worked for the city since 1985, when he was hired as a city prosecutor in municipal court. In 2003, he was appointed city attorney.
