Cook leading schools

Anthony Dean Cook has been named the superintendent of the Amory Separate School District. The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the school board voted 5-0 to approve the appointment.

Board president Dr. Bill Rogers said Cook, currently the assistant superintendent of the Pontotoc City School District, was chosen because the district is focused on academic excellence.

Departing superintendent Gearl Loden is set to take the reins in the Tupelo School District at the beginning of the new school year.

Cook has been with the Pontotoc City School District since 2004.
