Supervisors hoping to land federal grant for airport improvements

PONTOTOC COUNTY — Pontotoc County supervisors are hoping for a federal grant to help make runway improvements at the county airport.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the decision came after an engineer told supervisors the runway needed resealing because the pavement was showing signs of age.

The cost of the project is estimated at $254,000 with the county having to come up with a 10 percent match.

County officials hope to put the project out for bids by July 31.

The project will include new striping on the runway.
