Thirteen arrested in prostitution sting in Biloxi

BILOXI — Biloxi police have arrested 13 people, seven women and six men, in a prostitution sting detectives said targeted people advertising as independent escorts for sexually oriented services.

Sgt. Aldon Helmert says twelve of them were arrested on one or more counts of prostitution or solicitation. That includes the men who drove the women to meet clients at a hotel.

Helmert says the clients were actually undercover police officers who responded to advertisements on a number of websites that cater to sexually oriented services.

He says eight of those arrested on prostitution or solicitation charges also face charges of violating city ordinances that regulate escorts and the operation of escort services.

Several of those arrested also face misdemeanor drug charges involving marijuana or synthetic narcotics.
