Board chooses Coleman-Potter

The Ocean Springs School Board has selected Bonita Coleman-Potter, an educator from Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland, as the new superintendent of education. School board president Sharon Walker tells The Mississippi Press Coleman-Potter is a Mississippi native who wants to return home.

Coleman-Potter is currently the deputy superintendent at the Prince George’s County Public Schools, a district with a $1.6 billion budget, 123,000 students and 200 schools.

She will officially take over the job July 1, replacing Robert Hirsch, who retired June 30.
