Ladners face new charges of Katrina-cleanup kickbacks

BAY ST. LOUIS — Former Hancock County Road Manager Roger Ladner, his wife and two brothers have pleaded not guilty to a new federal indictment on charges in an alleged kickback scheme related to Hurricane Katrina cleanup contracts.

The four are accused of a scheme in which Roger Ladner is alleged to have awarded Hurricane Katrina related cleanup contracts to close relatives and others who, in exchange, gave kickbacks to Ladner.

The four appeared yesterday in federal court in Gulfport.

The trial was scheduled for July 23, but in light of the new indictments for Ladner’s two brothers, Donald Ray Ladner and Billy Wayne Ladner, it is likely to be continued. The indictments came last week and was heard for the first time by a judge yesterday.
