BorgWarner expanding plant again; adding 50 new jobs

WATER VALLEY — Auto parts maker BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems says it plans to add another 50 jobs at its Yalobusha County plant.

It’s the third expansion at the site in two years for company, which now has 485 employees.

The company makes parts for automotive transmissions. BorgWarner is hiring more workers to make a transmission system, which enables engines to stop and start quickly. Such systems improve fuel economy by cutting off engines when vehicles are idling.

BorgWarner, based in Auburn Hills, Mich., added 120 jobs in Water Valley in 2010 and 67 jobs in 2011. Mississippi officials say BorgWarner has invested $47 million at the plant south of Oxford since 2009.

The state and the Tennessee Valley Authority provided unspecified incentives.
