Corps promotes Carter

Michael W. Carter has been chosen as the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ supervisory natural resources Manager at the Vicksburg District’s Arkabutla Lake, located near Coldwater. Prior to his new appointment, Carter served as supervisory natural management specialist at the Bay Springs Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Booneville.

He began his career with an internship as a park ranger aide at the Bay Springs Site Office in 1987. He has also held the positions of park ranger at the Tom Bevill Visitor’s Center on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Pickensville, Ala., and the Jamie Whitten Historical Center near Fulton.

Carter, a native of New Albany, received his bachelor of science degree in natural resource management from the University of Tennessee at Martin. The father of two children, Carter is also a member of the city of New Albany’s Mississippi Historic Preservation Committee.
