Corinth’s Wayne Gann will chair the Mississippi Board of Education for the coming year. Gann, a former teacher, principal and school superintendent in northeast Mississippi, was appointed to the nine-member board in 2006. He was superintendent in Corinth for 27 years.
Gann had served as vice chairman under outgoing chairman Charles McClelland. Gann’s nine-year term runs until July 2015. He was appointed by former Lt. Gov Amy Tuck in 2006.
The board chose Howell Gage of Vicksburg, chairman of River Hills Bank, as vice chairman. Gage first joined the board in 2004 and was reappointed by former Gov. Haley Barbour in 2007. His term runs until July 2016.
