GREENVILLE — The former executive director of the South Delta Regional Housing Authority wants a judge let her remain free on bond pending the appeal of her prison sentence.
U.S. District Court Judge Glen H. Davidson sentenced 58-year-old Ann Jefferson to 32 months in prison on Aug. 2 for embezzlement, obstruction of justice and witness intimidation. He ordered her to pay more than $41,000 in restitution.
Jefferson must report by Sept. 10 to begin serving her sentence at the minimum-security women’s Federal Correctional Institution in Greenville, Ill.
In a motion filed this past week, Jefferson asked to remain free pending appeal.
Authorities say Jefferson converted money from several housing authority accounts to her own use. She also was accused of retaliating against three witnesses.
