The late William “Son” Hudson was recently honored as the second member on the Mississippi Civil Defense/Emergency Management Association’s Memorial Wall of Remembrance. Hudson spent 14 years as the Panola County Emergency Management director from 1994-2008. He was killed while on duty in a vehicle accident in Batesville in September 2008 at the age of 65.
Hudson also served Panola County as E-911 coordinator, fire coordinator and Homeland Security director. Hudson was also retired member of the Mississippi National Guard where he earned the rank of sergeant first class.
The ceremony took place at the MEMA State Emergency Operations Center in Pearl where the memorial stands in the lobby.
