AT&T launches 4G LTE in Jackson

AT&T, the nation’s largest 4G network, has turned on its 4G LTE network in Jackson, according to a news release from the company.

The Dallas-based telecommunications giant says the new service will bring customers the latest generation of wireless network technology including faster speeds, new devices and spectrum efficiency.

LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G,” the release says. “Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before.”

LTE-compatible devices available on the AT&T network include new 4G smartphones and tablets like the Motorola ATRIX HD, Sony Xperia ion,  and HTC One X.

The Samsung Focus 2, Nokia Lumia 900, Samsung Galaxy Note, and Pantech Element tablet are also available.

4G LTE will cut down on the time it takes users to download a webpage or file. Other benefits range from better mobile gaming to two-way video calling.

AT&T says that since wireless spectrum is an in-demand resource, LTE will use it more efficiently than other technologies and free up space to carry data traffic and services.

In a released statement, AT&T Mississippi president Mayo Flynt said the service will keep up with the company’s best and fastest devices.

“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in Jackson, responds to what customers want from their mobile experience,” Flynt said.
