PICAYUNE — A former teller at a Picayune bank pleaded guilty to bank fraud for her role in the theft of $117,000 from a bank vault at Union Planters Bank.
The Sun Herald reports 43-year-old Debra Mitchell was released on a $25,000 unsecured bond pending sentencing on March 18.
Mitchell, of Carriere, was charged with bank fraud in a bill of information.
Documents in related federal court cases said Vonetta Jordan was the head teller and Mitchell was a teller when they allegedly stole money. The bank at the time was Union Planters Bank. Regions Bank acquired the financial institution in 2005
Jordan, of Poplarville, is charge with bank fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud and 12 counts of making false entries.
