Agency asking for help in tracking turkey populations

JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is seeking information from hunters to keep track of turkey populations in the state.

Adam Butler, wild turkey program biologist, said the spring gobbler hunter survey is one of the most reliable data sets used to monitor Mississippi turkeys.

Currently, more than 1,200 turkey hunters participate in the program, but Butler said he needs more.

To participate in the survey, call 601)-432-2199 or go online to www.dwfp.com/turkey.
