Coast casino awaits disciplinary vote at commission meeting

Casino_rouletter_wheel RGBThe Mississippi Gaming Commission moves its March meeting to the Gulf Coast on Friday, but other than a disciplinary vote there is little on the agenda concerning South Mississippi casinos.

A few routine items will be brought up at the 11 a.m. meeting at Palace Casino in Biloxi. Next month’s meeting will return to the commission’s headquarters in Jackson on April 18.

The disciplinary action will be considered against Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant in Bilxoi, but according to Allen Godfrey, commission executive director, the details of any violation will not be made public until released after the meeting by the legal division of the commission. The casino could be fined $10,000, with another monthly $5,000 penalty until the violations are not resolved.

Godfrey said disciplinary votes come up from time to time, and the commission has the authority to enforce fines. A more egregious violation might bring a stronger fine.

In other action, two Biloxi casinos, Hard Rock and Grand Casino, are seeking approval to transfer equity interests or securities.

There is no action on the agenda regarding proposed casinos in Gulfport or D’Iberville, although the Sun-Herald reports deadlines await Rotate Black and Oyster Bay casinos.
