Regulators give nod to new liquor store hours

CORINTH — Corinth’s request for two changes in the hours for the local sale of liquor has been approved by Mississippi regulators.

The Daily Corinthian reports the Alcoholic Beverage Control agency recently approved package stores to have hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, rather than the state regulation of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The ABC also approved allowing restaurants that sell liquor to serve on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The city had to petition the ABC for those changes under state law.

The first package store opened on Feb. 9 and several more have opened since.

The Corinth mayor and the board of aldermen are still working on the local liquor and beer ordinances to clean up discrepancies.
