Aldermen give go-ahead to have properties cleaned

HORN LAKE — Horn Lake aldermen have given the city authority to clean up more than 60 properties if the landowners fail to take action.

Overgrown property becomes a chronic problem for municipalities with the coming of spring as grass begins to grow.

Under the resolution approved by the board, the city has the authority to mow, clean and make necessary repairs, with costs of up to $1,500 being recorded as a tax lien against the property.

The Commercial Appeal reports a total of 62 addresses were included in the resolution.
