Annual event to focus on emergency preparedness & health education

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), which is housed within the Mississippi Gulf Coast Black Nurse Association, will host the “Discovering a Better You College and Health Fair” Saturday, June 1, 2013. The health fair will take place at Edgewater Mall, 2600 Beach Boulevard in Biloxi from 10AM to 4PM.

Taking place on the first day of Hurricane Season, the purpose of the event is to reinforce the importance of emergency preparedness and health education throughout the Gulf Coast. The following opportunities are available for strategic partners and participants who are seeking to raise awareness on these important issues:

– Exhibitor Opportunities: Colleges and universities with health and/or public health programs and medical partners or health organizations can register for limited exhibitor space.

– Student Artist Contest: High school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in an artist contest and showcase during the event. To participate, students should create a painting or drawing that depicts the importance of fire safety and prevention or hurricane preparedness. Artwork will be displayed and winners will be announced during the event. The deadline to register is May 1, 2013.

– Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship opportunities remain available.
