Longtime Clarion-Ledger sports editor Rusty Hampton is leaving The Clarion-Ledger to become editor of projects and proposals at Neel-Schaffer engineering firm in Jackson.
Hampton posted his decision on his Facebook account Monday night.
“I’m happy and sad tonight,” he wrote. “Excited about a new job prospect with the Neel-Schaffer engineering firm in Jackson but sad to be leaving The Clarion-Ledger, where I’ve worked for 25, the last 11 as Sports Editor. I’ll continue to work with words at Neel-Schaffer, just the non-sports kind, editing and helping write job proposals and editing and developing content for the company’s website. I’ve had a great career in newspapers, 33 years total, but it’s time for change.”
