D’IBERVILLE — The annexation battle between Biloxi and D’Iberville is finally over, and representatives for D’Iberville say they are the winners.
The area in dispute was along Mississippi Highway 67.
The state Supreme Court on March 21 upheld the annexation ruling that kept in Harrison County part of the annexation area requested by both cities and split the remaining land between the two cities.
The Sun Herald reports city won’t petition for a rehearing.
Consultant Chris Watson said he saw news reports that said Biloxi was the winner in the annexation suit, and that’s not the case.
Watson says Biloxi was awarded 2.9 square miles of land with 204 residents worth $1 million.
He says D’Iberville received 3.5 square miles and more than 2,000 residents, worth $10.6 million.
