WCU, Tradition unveil health care zone plans

HARRISON COUNTY — William Carey University and the Tradition community intend to create a health care industry zone centered around WCU’s Tradition campus on Highway 67 in Harrison County.

At a news conference, Jerry Bracey, dean of WCU’s Tradition campus, congratulated Rep. Hank Zuber of Ocean Springs and Sen. Sean Tindell of Gulfport for sponsoring House Bill 722 in the 2013 legislative session and thanked all of the coast delegation for their support.

Zuber said, “The new law provides incentives for job-producing medical and pharmaceutical businesses to build facilities within five miles of an institution of higher learning that grants degrees in health care fields.”

WCU and Tradition will apply to Mississippi Development Authority to certify the Tradition Health Care Industry Zone under House Bill 722.
